![]() When hiking on the prairie, surprises can happen - like today when I startled a sharptail grouse that was nesting on a hillside. The grouse waited until I was within a foot of its nest until it got up and flew away - and startled me. I quickly counted 14 eggs and moved on. By the way, this is the first time that I have come across a sharptail grouse nest. They do a good job of camouflaging them. |
