It is dry on the prairie.

I went out for a hike, expecting to photograph a lot of wildflowers, and instead, I saw a lot of grass that is dormant or dead, wildflowers dying on the spot, and little evidence that I will see many flowers through the remainder of the summer.

I managed only about four good photographs for the evening hike.

Am I disappointed? Yes.

However, you quickly learn that the climate on the prairie is never constant, going from hot to cold, from dry to wet. That's what makes it interesting living here. Things are rarely the same.
